Make More of Your Content

‘Content is King’ ‘Add Value’ and ‘SEO Rich Content’ are all phrases you will hear all over social as ways to effectively grow your audience, but to me, they seem meaningless.

I have brought up the issue before the marketers give away free advice to other marketers and leave the businesses in the dark unless they pay up for the expertise. This leaves the small business at a loss. Having the experience and context to apply these marketing techniques is far more valuable than knowing the buzzwords themselves.

I’m not going to go over old ground here, if you want to hear my thoughts on my industry you can read it here. This article is going to help demystify the confusion that is everywhere online hopefully.

Okay, here goes, what content you need to create and why:

  1. Know what your audience is interested in - research what your audience is looking for and make content around that subject
  2. Take the topic you know they are interested in and find where they are looking for answers. Wikipedia, Reddit, TikTok wherever they are looking for the answers, you answer it there
  3. Add value basically means, giving your audience something to take away. People are going to be less interested in the fact that you got a new chair to sit at your workstation for when you make soap than they are about how to make their soap bars last longer.
  4. Repurpose it. You wrote an article, great, now turn it into a carousel, turn it into 10tips you can share over 10 weeks, talk about it as a reel, write a spin-off article, look at it again in 6 weeks time, make more of your hard work.
  5. Don’t be dull, a picture of people in your office, or new furniture delivery may seem important to your staff, but no one else will take a blind bit of notice. Make sure you are creating content for your ideal audience, not to appease yourself or your internal stakeholders.

Okay, that is a whilst stop tour of content creation, but hopefully, it helps get you into a better mindset about how creating content is helpful not just to your socials.
